We have made it past the halfway point! Thank you all for your hard work so far this session. There are so many good people out there fighting for Utahns.
We have more bill updates this week as things are moving along, and as always, check out our tracker for the full list of things we are watching!
Representative Lesser's HB220, Pregnancy and Postpartum Medicaid Coverage Amendments was ranked at the bottom of the SSA priority list, sadly, due largely to fiscal note issues. We are continuing to raise awareness of Utah's maternal mental health crisis and the coverage gaps during pregnancy and postpartum. We encourage you to reach out to Business and Labor committee members using the button below. You can reference this messaging guide/FAQ, as well as this compilation of example families and the ways HB220 would help them.
HB77- Medication for Inmates, formerly Contraception for Inmates, crossed over and is waiting for Senate committee assignment.
We are still watchingHB127, Representative Schipp's harmful ban on health care services for trans youth. It has been subbed out and is still bad news. We must continue to raise awareness of the need to support affirming care for trans youth.
HB207 –Inmate Treatment Amendments, which would continue Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) for incarcerated folks, was held in the Law Enforcement committee.
Action Alert Reminder: HB223, Diabetes Supply Amendments is assigned to the House Business and Labor Committee, and could use support. Could you or someone you know benefit from a price cap on insulin pumps or continuous glucose monitors? Contact your representatives and/or committee membersto share your story and ask for their support.
