Hello Health Care Advocates,

We are wrapping up the second week of the session and things are picking up speed! One of our main priority bills was numbered this week: Representative Lesser's HB220, Pregnancy and Postpartum Medicaid Coverage Amendments. This simple piece of legislation is the result of more than a year of research, strategizing, and collaborating. It would help close two of the remaining coverage gaps for Utah families by expanding the income eligibility threshold for pregnancy Medicaid, and extending postpartum coverage to a full 12 months. 92% of Utah's pregnancy-related deaths are preventable, and this plan will save lives! Keep watching for ways to help us get it across the finish line.

Other bills we are watching include HB127, Representative Schipp's harmful ban on health care services for trans youth. It has been assigned to HHS and we are fighting to make sure it goes no farther.

Finally, we made progress on two other bills in today's HHS committee: HB80, Diabetes Prevention Program Amendments, and HB77, Contraception for Inmates, which were both passed and will move on to the full House.

There is a lot in motion, check out our bill tracker for a wide range of health care legislation and watch our social media and email updates for calls to action as things move quickly.

Reminder to check out our vaccine messaging materials as well:
